Devising With Teenagers - Online Training with Company Three
Company Three is well known for running a range of acclaimed training courses, open to anyone, at any stage of their career, who is interested in meaningful artistic collaboration with young people.
During the Covid Pandemic, they have adapted and created a range of online training sessions for theatres, community arts groups, schools and other organisations, and in January 2021, Mortal Fools are excited to be hosting 3 of Company Three's "Devising with Teenagers" modules.
These will be delivered as Twilight and Weekend sessions:
* Tuesday 5th January, 7 - 9pm - Make make make * Thursday 7th January, 7 - 9pm - Filtering and editing * Sunday 10th January, 10am - 12pm - Writing and wrighting
We are investing in this training for our team of Associate Theatre Practitioners, and are delighted to be able to make 8 additional places available to freelancers from across the North East.
You can book your place on all 3 sessions for a total cost of £25+service charge.
ABOUT THE DEVISING WITH TEENAGERS TRAINING MODULES: Make make make. Getting started in a devising is often the hardest bit. In this module we explore how to use sources to inspire young people to generate lots of artistic responses in a fun, unpressured and personal way, creating a broad range of material to build your play from.
Filtering and editing. How do you select material to create an efficient, coherent play, but without anyone in the cast feeling like their work has been cut out unfairly? This module explores how to filter and edit your work and how this impacts the form you choose for your play.
Writing and wrighting. In this module we explore ways to generate text with young people and how to wright (or craft) a play. We introduce accessible writing exercises and structures that will help you structure your play in collaboration with the young people youre working with.
ABOUT COMPANY THREE: Company Three is a leading force for change for teenagers in our local community and around the world. They are a theatre company led by the ideas of our 75 members aged 11-19. They develop their practice through deep-rooted relationships locally and share their practice globally to impact teenagers everywhere.
Working in Islington, North London, they make transformative theatre through long-term, intensive collaboration between young people and professional theatre-makers. Their plays have been performed at the National Theatre, Battersea Arts Centre, the Royal Exchange Theatre, Yard Theatre and on the BBC.
