Introduction to Biotech
Are you totally new to science, but really interested to get started at HiveBio? Do you have no molecular biology experience, or want a primer before you start trying your own thing or participating in other workshops? This is a very introductory lab class to help you get acquainted with the HiveBio space, and some very basic principles of biotech. This workshop will cover: -lab safety. -using pipetman and pipettes. -using a scale.
This workshop will be offered semi-regularly to give newcomers an opportunity to learn some of the principles that will be used in more advanced molecular biology labs. In this lab, you will get a chance to master these fundamental techniques.
Your class fee include the day use fee for the lab, if you would like to hang around after the workshop is complete.
Requirements: We cannot yet have students under 16 in our classes (but we will be able to soon!).
This class will be taught by Dr. Sandlin Seguin, Executive Director of Education Programs at HiveBio, a molecular virologist by training.
