HOT PATOOTIE! ROCKY HORROR IS COMING TO ROSENDALE!
Dance in the aisle to "The Time Warp" at this fundraiser for The Rosendale Theatre
The Rosendale Theatre Collective, is bringing the cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" to the Rosendale Theatre on Friday, November 1. Doors open at 7:45 and the show starts soon after with some instructions for virgins (first time film goers), a preshow act and a costume contest with prizes.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show has been playing regularly as a midnight movie for more than 30 years. This film is the ultimate cult classic: Shadow Casts act out numbers from the film while the movie plays and encourages the raucous humor and call backs from the often costumed audience. The Live Performers in Rosendale includes: Julie Novak, John Cox, Dylan Glenn-Johanson, Carla Rozman, Carrie Wykoff and others!
Audience members are encouraged get involved too, dress up and singing along, if so inclined, (lyrics to some songs will be projected), by shouting "call-backs" during the performance and dancing The Time Warp. Organizers ask that you don't throw anything on stage keep the rice and water at home, please. Before the show, prop bags containing newspaper, toilet paper, noisemakers, latex gloves and a glow stick will be sold. The cast, crew, and regular attendees teach the Virgins (people who haven't seen the show) when to yell the appropriate call back lines, the use of props, and how to do the "Time Warp." An open Time Warp rehearsal will take place at the Rosendale Theatre on Wednesday October 30 at 6pm. All willing Transylvanians are welcome to attend!
This notorious horror parody a fast-paced potpourri of camp, sci-fi and rock 'n' roll, among other things tracks the exploits of naïve couple Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) after they stumble upon the lair of transvestite Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry). The film a bizarre musical co-starring Meat Loaf and Richard O'Brien bombed in its initial release but later gained a cult following. Rocky Horror is the longest running film in history, a rock and roll classic that defined in-theater interactive entertainment
Not for the faint of heart, the movie is packed with raucous and racy humor. Rocky Horror is an R rated film anyone under 17 requires an accompanying parent or adult guardian and no one under the age of 12 will be admitted.
Tickets are $10 and $8 for those in costume the box office will be open on the night of the movie at 6:30pm.
