Hyde Park School of Dance presents The Nutcracker: 2020 Virtual Edition

Hyde Park School of Dance will present its first ever Virtual Nutcracker December 11-13 and 18-20. This narrated, family-friendly production is a South Side favorite and provides an abundance of merriment and magic! Due to COVID-19, this year's pared down production will feature Party and Battle Scene dancers filmed from their homes via Zoom, our Tyego Next Generation Youth Company dancers professionally filmed in our original studio, and a grand finale honoring our 12 graduating Senior dancers.
This revamped Virtual Nutcracker is directed by HPSD's founding Artistic Director, August Tye and features original choreography from HPSD Associate Artistic Directors, student faculty, guest artists, and adaptations of traditional choreography by Marius Petipa.
This year, there are three slightly different versions of the show with alternating casting. Make sure to visit hydeparkdance.org/tickets before purchasing your tickets to look at the cast list for each version to ensure you are purchasing for the correct date to see your dancer(s)!
Once you purchase your ticket(s), HPSD will follow up via email with next step instructions for accessing the virtual link(s) for the performance(s) you will attend. Please ensure that your email is listed accurately and do not unsubscribe from Brown Paper Tickets prior to the performance date.
All shows will start promptly at 6pm CST and last 40-45 minutes. Virtual performances are scheduled for:
Friday, December 11: Version 1
Saturday, December 12: Version 2
Sunday, December 13: Version 3
Friday, December 18: Version 2
Saturday, December 19: Version 3
Sunday, December 20: Version 1
Tickets to view individual performances are $25. There is a 10% discount to purchase viewing tickets for all 6 performances.
SPONSORSHIP PACKAGES ARE STILL AVAILABLE! All donor packages are 100% tax-deductible minus the cost of the show tickets. If you would like to purchase a donor package please go to HydeParkDance.org to purchase via PayPal, or email:execdirector@hydeparkdance.org to pay via check.
On Sunday, December 20, there will be a free, celebratory event after the last showing of the Nutcracker. Attendees will receive a separate email with the event link.
Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Hyde Park School of Dance is a 501c3 non profit organization, founded in 1993 to provide opportunities for students of all ages and abilities to study, perform, and create classical and contemporary dance at the highest levels of discipline and artistry.
HPSD is committed to sharing dance with the community through public performances, school partnerships, and community engagement programs, and offers needs-based scholarships for children who otherwise might not have the opportunity to dance.
Proceeds will support HPSD training, performances, and community engagement programs serving the South Side of Chicago.
