Comedienne Debra Cole Headlining at the Highland Ballroom Inn Friday Dec. 6th 8:30 p.m.

It's the Red Wine and Cheese Dip tour with comedienne Debra Cole. The tour started in Augusta, GA and now Atlantans can enjoy the wry, witty, and sometimes dark humor of their favorite female comic. Debra will be at The Highland Ballroom Inn Friday December 6th. The doors open at 8 and the show begins at 8:30. Also performing will be comedian Big Kenny. Tickets are $20. Although the ATL is her home, Debra Cole is a native of Waycross and a graduate of Valdosta State University where she studied music. She is known for smart humor that is delivered with her signature southern twang. In her show, she covers current events, public school, politics, relationships, bad customer service, motherhood, life as a comic, and much more.

Sometimes edgy and always surprising, audiences are guaranteed a good time. She's kind of like Larry the Cable Guy's Cousin, the southerner who went to college and chose Prague instead of Panama City for Spring break. Her career as a stand-up comic began some years back after friends urged her to give it a try. Her first performance was at Eddie's Attic in Decatur. She eventually left her job as a teacher to pursue comedy full-time. However, the path was not without road blocks. She experienced a difficult divorce when her daughter was just 11 months old. She continued to write, perform, and produce shows while nursing an infant. Despite the recession, co-parenting headaches, business frustrations, self-doubt, and the loneliness that single parents often endure, she stayed on course with her craft and kept bringing the laughs. Debra hosted and produced Kavarna Comedy at the Kavarna Coffee Pub in Oakhurst beginning May 2010. Later, she produced The Comedy Rocket Series at the Ansley Park Playhouse beginning Fall 2010. After the show ended, she hosted the Funny Fridays Series at the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville from January 2012 until June of 2013. In addition to notable performances in clubs and the Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival, Debra has performed for numerous charities and groups such as the LGBT AA Organization known as Hotlanta Roundup, Pets are Loving Support, Limmud Jewish Festival, Atlanta Food Bank, Decatur Arts Festival, Georgia Libertarian Party, Tennessee Democrats, and many more.
