The Music of David A. Jaffe
On Friday, November 8, 2013, at 8:00 p.m., The Lafayette String Quartet, Andrew Schloss, Scott MacInnes, Trimpin, and others will come together perform a selection of works by David A. Jaffe. This versatile composer's compositions range from the acoustic to the electronic. The concert will encompass a broad spectrum of Jaffe's output from the old time fiddle-inspired "Cluck Old Hen Variations" to the Canadian premiere of "The Space Between Us" for radio drum, two string quartets, piano, and robotic percussion designed by Seattle's Trimpin, who returns to Open Space to install the robotic instrument to the ceiling. Also, on this concert, The Lafayette String Quartet will present the world premiere of the newly commissioned string quartet "Fox Hollow."
Mounting the works of David A. Jaffe is no small feat. Come see this concert that reaches the cutting edge of acoustic and robotic composition.
