Tim Sample
Tim Sample recorded his first comedy album in 1979 and in the years since his more than 3 dozen CD's -- including the forthcoming "Bert & I Rebooted" -- videos, DVD's, and books of Down East humor have made him a household name throughout New England. Tim is Maine's goodwill ambassador to the rest of New England and to the world always family-friendly, always funny. Tickets for this all-ages show are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.
From 1993 to 2004 Tim worked as a regular correspondent entertaining millions on CBS News Sunday Morning. So who better to call on to kick off the Franco Center's Comedy Series for the season than a native son, born in the County and raised on the coast, who has brought Maine to the world at large?
Born in Aroostook County and raised in Boothbay Harbor, Tim remains once and for always a Maine resident and his humor reflects his intimate knowledge of his home state. Maine author Stephen King likens Tim's humor to that of Mark Twain, while legendary CBS newsman Charles Kuralt ordained Tim "Maine's humorist laureate."
This show coincides with the highly-anticipated release of "Bert & I Rebooted" -- remastered and better-than-ever recordings from the classic series that, more than any other examples of recorded Maine humor, exported all that is funny about Maine far beyond its borders to the rest of America and the world.
