LIGLFF presents The New World
The New World (Etienne Dhaene, France, 2007, 92 min)
Long time partners, Lucie and Marion are a happy French lesbian couple. But these two happy lesbians are not immune to the outbreak of 'must-be-a-mommy' mentality that's sweeping lesbian relationships worldwide. It's Lucie's ticking biological clock that starts the race toward motherhood. Like all modern, committed couples, the two struggle with this seemingly simple task - making a baby. They find out very quickly that even the potential of a life changing event can do just that - begin to change their lives and, the lives of those around them. Through a truly Hollywood style light-romantic comedy, we get to witness first hand how the two handle a not so light; disapproving family, over-accepting family, friends who want to help and their own fears and joys. To complicate matters, the woman embark on an epic search for 'the right' sperm donor which proves to be another stressful yet humorous ordeal. This tale of two women, lightly drizzled with real-life woes, spins into a series of events that ultimately promises to bring these two women happiness... but... will their relationship prove to be stable enough so that they can reach that ultimate happiness together? A delightful, feel-good lesbian comedy that will lift you up and charm your heart!
Preceded by Dandelion Fall (Lauren Wolkstein, USA, 2007, 14 min) Billy is a lonely, yet sexy, cowgirl drifter, making ends meet as a subway busker in Manhattan and coming to terms with her same sex tendencies. As she gets caught up with the beautiful but selfish Bella, a Manhattan socialite, each must learn some hard facts about life.
