Moravian Music Foundation and the Winston-Salem Symphony together present Fischer's transcription of Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 "Pastoral" for String Sextet
A partnership of the Winston-Salem Symphony and Moravian Music Foundation. Performance will be LIVE-STREAMED from the Archie K Davis Center, home of the Moravian Music Foundation and the Moravian Archives.
A first-edition of this transcription resides in the Moravian Archives in the holdings of the Moravian Music Foundation, Salem Collegium Musicum collection. Musicians will be playing from facsimile reproductions of these original parts.
Also on the program: Winston-Salem Symphony trombonists will play Beethoven's Drei Equale (three chorales for four trombones) these pieces were played at Beethoven's funeral.
This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime event! Even Beethoven expert, David Levy, said he had never heard this version. And, how amazing that we had the first edition in the Moravian archival holdings of the Salem Collegium Musicum.
Please tell your friends! We have no limit on viewership and $20 is the bargain of the classical music world!
We may not know Beethovens exact birthdate, but we know that it was mid-December in 1770. In honor of the great composers 250th birthday and the community-wide BTHVN Rocks Winston-Salem collaboration, the Winston-Salem Symphony and the Moravian Music Foundation are coming together for this special performance. The Moravian Music Foundation has a rare first-edition of Beethovens Sixth Symphony in its archives; this concert will feature a string sextet arrangement of this beautiful work, plus a rarely-heard Beethoven work for four trombones.
