11/10 Green Eggs and Ham Using this Doctor Suess classic, our young participants will join Sam-I-Am as he urges another character to eat green eggs and ham. Fun rhyming words are used as Sam-I-Ams sales pitch gets more and more imaginative. In this class, children will discuss what foods they dislike and why. They will participate in a game using facial expressions such as yucky food face and yummy food face. With so many rhyming words used in this storybook, the children will use these words to also participate in rhyming word games.
11/24 Where the Wild Things Are Follow Max as he is sent to his room for creating a rukus. Watch as his room becomes a forest, then an ocean and finally a land full of wild things. Will Max be able to tame the wild things? Or will he become a wild thing himself? In this read-a-long class, participants will use their imaginations to create their own friendly giants, using body movements, facial expressions and sounds to act them out. Other games will be played in which they will continue to explore their imaginations.
12/8 The Very Hungry Caterpillar In this cleverly written and colorfully illustrated childrens book we meet a very hungry caterpillar. With his large appetite, we wonder what he will eat next? After stuffing himself he pupates and emerges as a beautiful butterfly. Our young students will participate in theater games that focus on counting, the days of the week, different kinds of foods and the stages of a butterfly.
