Introduction to Crop Art
Learn the basics of Crop Art, a beloved Minnesota harvest tradition. Follow along as we discuss the history, process, and details of creating a seed mosaic popularized by the Minnesota State Fair. In this hands-on virtual class, the instructor will create art with you over video. We will discuss where to buy seeds, State Fair rules, and how to create your own piece ready for entry to the 2021 Minnesota State Fair.
Your registration fee includes a materials packet, which will be mailed to you before class. In addition to the provided materials you will need: scissors, Elmers glue, office tape, and an image to fit on your 7 1/2 x 7 1/2-inch board (we will provide the board). Your image should be simple, something with basic shapes, either your own artwork or a found image.
About the instructor: Liz Schreiber has been entering the State Fair Crop Art competition for 16 years, won numerous ribbons and has taught multiple classes and workshops on the subject. Her commissioned work has been seen on publications such as The Growler, Edible Twin Cities and VitaMN magazine.
