CLARINET THING will hold a concert/donor party on Sunday, November 9th, from 4-6pm at the home of Beth Custer, 3227 Folsom St., San Francisco. A $20+ donation will be accepted and go towards a new recording and CD release for the ensemble. Donors of $100 or more will receive an autographed copy of the CD.
CLARINET THING will give a concert in an acoustically warm, intimate space. A set of new material will be discussed and performed in an informal setting. There will be time to enjoy mingling with the artists one-on-one as well as see the incredible array of clarinets up close. Light snacks, juice, beer and wine will be served. Advance tickets will be available at Brown Paper Tickets.
CLARINET THING is a quartet of virtuoso clarinetists from the Bay Area. Sheldon Brown, Beth Custer, Ben Goldberg, and Harvey Wainapel perform arrangements of a jazz, world, and new music on almost the entire family of clarinets. The program will include: Crepescule (Thelonious Monk) In The Mornings Out There; Jesus Maria (Carla Bley) Scootin About; Cry Want (Jimmy Giuffre) 2300 Skidoo (Herbie Nichols) Night in Tunesia (Dizzy Gillespie) And new compositions by band members: Crush (Beth Custer); Clarity/Harbinger (Sheldon Brown) Pulmonary; Asterisk (Ben Goldberg)
