Ruth Moody is the Juno Award-winning songwriter from Canada, and a founding member of the internationally renowned trio The Wailin' Jennys. She has performed in sold-out venues around the world, made numerous critically-acclaimed albums, and has appeared more than a dozen times on American television and radio. Those who've seen her at Cotton Auditorium, the Anderson Valley Grange, or at the Kate Wolf Festival know that her performances rate consistently high with area concert-goers, and this concert at SPACE Theater in Ukiah will be no exception.
Although best known for her work with The Wailin' Jennys, Moody is an artist of exceptional depth and grace in her own right. Critics have lauded her ethereal vocals, impressive multi-instrumentalism (she plays guitar, banjo, accordion, piano, and bodhrán), and her talent as a songwriter. Writing with a maturity and wisdom that belies her age, her songs are timeless, universal, and exceptionally well-crafted, all sung with an intimacy and honesty that is unmistakably her own.
This concert is a fundraising event for KZYX, 90.7, 91.5, and 88.1 FM, the public and community non-commercial radio station, serving four counties of northern California from studios in Philo, Willits, and Mendocino. 100% of the net proceeds go to support and sustain public radio in Mendocino County.
