Cider Week NY: Domaine Dupont Tasting
We're incredibly fortunate to host a tasting with Anne-Pamy Dupont, of Domaine Dupont, a renowned cidery in Normandy, France.
Join us for a discussion of the French cider-making tradition, as well as a tasting of three ciders and one pommeau:
Cidre Bouché - Created via traditional cider-making methods of the Pays d'Auge region. 5% ABV Cidre Dupont Reserve (draught) - Cider is aged for six months in oak casks formerly used to hold Calvados. 7.5% ABV Cidre Triple - Created using a selection of bitter apples. 10% ABV Pommeau de Normandie - Combination of Calvados aged for one year, and apple must. 17% ABV
About Domaine Dupont and its processes:
The Louis Dupont Family estate consists of 74 acres of orchards in Normandy, in the heart of the Pays d'Auge region. The estate has 6,000 apple trees in 13 different varieties, and produces ciders, pommeau and calvados.
Apples are only gathered when at full maturity, which sometimes necessitates at least three visits per tree. The hand-picked apples are then washed and sorted just before being pressed. Fermentation starts in vats and continues slowly in the bottle to create a natural effervescence.
Tickets are $18 per person and includes the tasting.
