MARAH presents Mountain Minstrelsy!
We recently finished our "Mountain Minstrelsy of Pennsylvania" album. It was a whale of a thing to chase down!
To celebrate the forthcoming LP, we also cut a 7" Vinyl Single that contains two of the album's most unusual and amazing songs. Always wanted to see if we could make some music to the old standards, big sounds, no tricks, no trickery, no funny stuff. It ain't easy, we can tell you that...not anymore, it ain't. So it was a joyous day inside the church when we laid this one down.
This special limited edition 45 rpm is a souvenir of our labor of love. One day it will be a rare collectable of great value. To us it already is. We are very proud of this one. Rock & Roll is nothing but spirit and it was our wish to push that spirit upon some old fashioned melodies and see what would be revealed. This is what happened...
Side A is called "Ten Cents at the Gate" and it features a local Barbershop Quartet plus all the folks of this one traffic light town singing along. Tubas, bells, machine gun banjos, tap dancers. I'm proud to even be on it.

Side B is "Rattlesnake" and it's real banjo punk rock, all guts. Gus invented this song and sings it. This song never gets old. I play the vinyl test pressing over and over again late at night. I'm proud to even know anybody that's on it.
