iLL-Literacy & Theophilus London

As a part of the Natural Electricity Tour, iLL-Literacy with its full band the Hi-Lifes hit Crash Mansion for its NYC date. Joined by Brooklyn favorite, Theophilus London.

iLL-Literacy is an internationally-acclaimed spoken word collective based in Oakland, CA, consisting of members Adriel Luis, Dahlak Brathwaite, Nico Cary, and Ruby Veridiano-Ching . Since its inception in 2004 iLL-Literacy has been embraced for its moving stage performances, dynamic workshops, and captivating style. Pushing the boundaries of the spoken word art form, iLL-Literacy is an extraordinary hybrid of hip-hop, theater, and music. Over the past two years, iLL-Literacy has taken the world by storm with performances throughout the United States & Europe, dozens of publications and recordings, features on HBOs Def Poetry Jam and MTV News, an Emmy Award-winning short film, and poetry slam championships in the youth, college, and adult circuits. Gathering their experiences as college students and recent college grads, the collective has also formulated unique performances, and also workshops, aimed at addressing social, academic, and personal issues that are pertinent among college students and young adults.
