Working on Projects Under OSHPD Jurisdiction
Attendees will learn best practices for designing, submitting, and constructing construction projects in healthcare facilities. Topics include best practices for owners, designers, and contractors, handling conflicts between approved plans and OSHPD Field Staff, handling Field Staff inconsistencies and availability, IOR performance and expectations, dealing with contractor inexperience, and the TIO process.
Learning Objectives: 1. Identify the various stakeholders on a health facility's construction project and recognize their motivations.
2. Differentiate the various conflict resolution processes for OSHPD projects and choose the correct one for issues that arise on health facilities construction projects.
3. Recognize the importance of the project designer and identify best practices to ensure the project is successful.
4. Understand the field review process.

Presenter: Gary Dunger is an Executive Director for Cedars-Sinai Health System, Facilities Planning, Design & Construction department, responsible for overseeing the development of Planning, Design, and Construction projects for the entire Health System from inception through project close-out. Formerly the OSHPD Business Process Manager, Chief Fire & Life Safety Office and Regional Compliance Officer, Gary has been involved with health facilities construction for 30 years.
