THINGS NEVER SAID: GIBFF Closing Night
KALINDRA STEPNEY (Kal) is an emerging spoken-word poetess, someone who willingly speaks her thoughts, but she's an artist who has yet to find her voice. A native of California, Kal has dreams of taking her poems to New York and the infamous Nuyorican stage. Haunted by a miscarriage and saddled with RONNIE, a husband who's angry and without direction - he uses his fists as a form of speech, Kal tries desperately to find an outlet for her struggling voice.
Post Screening Discussion with Director Charles Murray
THINGS NEVER SAID is the debut film from Charles Murray, a Gary Roosevelt alumni who has spent the last 10+ years as a television writer and has worked with TV heavyweights like David Milch (Deadwood, NYPD Blue), Steven Bochco (Hill Street Blues, Ed Bernero (Criminal Minds, Third Watch), and his recent foray into features is a natural extension of his ability to tell and share the best stories he can, on platforms his audience habitually and consistently consumes. Working on shows like Castle, Criminal Minds and V, he's cultivated a rich, methodical storytelling sensibility as well as the relationships one would imagine you need to feed the all encompassing TV pipeline. He's also written features for 20th Century Fox, LionsGate, and Screen Gems.
