MTC's Beauty and the Beast
This version of Beauty and the Beast originated in France and has been told and retold for three centuries. Now Classics With A Twist offers it as a charming, fast-paced, energetic play,and as a well-crafted and highly appealing musical. Featuring fabulous village scenes and introducing many new and fascinating characters like Louis, ze French painter, and his lovely assistant, Fifi Laroo, who are both turned to stone as soon as they enter the great hall in the Beast's palace,falling victim to "the curse of the rose" as so many others have before them. Frau Marta is the village troublemaker along with her friend, Frau Grista, and their two stuck-up daughters, who make life miserable for Beauty Rose and her two sisters.
The plans of Ezmergelda, an evil witch, are foiled when true love wins out over false judgements--and the lesson that "Looks can be deceiving" strikes straight to the heart.

Audition Information
Please arrive 30 Minutes before your audition time to fill out paperwork. May be completed in advance.
Closed toe shoes are required. If inappropriate shoes are worn, you will not be allowed to participate.
NO FLIP FLOPS or BARE FEET!
Hair should be out of eyes and pulled back off face.
Clothing should allow actors and actresses to move freely.
Please prepare and bring 1 min. from a Broadway show ( not from the show you are auditioning for). Children under age 10 can sing a simple song of their choice.
CD or sheet music required.
Headshots and resumes are recommended but not required.
No prepared monologue needed
Please bring a list of dates that conflict with rehearsals.
All rehearsal and show times subject to change.
Final schedule will be announced at start of rehearsals.

Beauty and the Beast Character List
Ezmergelda- She is the evil sorceress who casts the spell on the beast. She needs to have a strong voice. She has a solo.
Munie- She/he is a cat who is the sorceress's faithful servant. She/he needs to be able to sing.
Sasha- She/he is a cat who is the sorceress's faithful servant. She/he needs to be able to sing.
Nix- She/he is a cat who is the sorceress's faithful servant. She/he needs to be able to sing.
Hemmel Von Rose- He is Beauty Rose, Keltie , and Lilly's loving father who brings gifts after returning from his travels. He is propositioned by the Beast. He needs to have a strong voice. He has a solo.
Beauty Rose- She is meek and full of curiosity. She needs to have a strong voice. She needs to be able to sing some soprano notes. She has a solo and a few other songs in the show.
Keltie Rose-She is Beauty Rose's sister who loves to dance. She needs to have a strong voice.
Lily Rose- She is Beauty Rose's youngest sister who loves dressing up in frilly dresses. She needs to have a strong voice.
Prince Eric- He is King Ferdinand's son who is turned into a beast. He needs to have a strong voice. He has a solo.
King Ferdinand- He is Prince Eric's father. He is the king of the land. He is very regal.
Queen Anastasia- She is Prince Eric's mother. She is the queen of the land. She is very regal.
Frau Marta-She lives in the village and loves to gossip. She is very much into herself and her daughter. She is jealous of Beauty Rose and Beauty's sisters. She needs to have a strong voice.
Corine-She is Frau Marta's daughter who is jealous of Beauty Rose and Beauty's sisters.
Cristian-He is Frau Marta's Husband.
Frau Grista-She lives in the town village. She is Frau Marta's friend who loves to gossip. She needs to have a strong voice.
Trista- She is Frau Grista's daughter.
Wilhelm-He is Frau Grista's son who takes a liking to Lily Von Rose.
Old Woman Hildebrand- She is an older townsperson who is wise and is like a narrator. She needs to have strong voice.
Old Woman Gertrude-She is an older townsperson who is wise and like a narrator. She needs to have a strong voice.
Old Woman Gilda-She is an older townsperson who is wise and is like a narrator. She needs to have a strong voice.
Old Woman Helga-She is an older townsperson who is wise and like a narrator. She needs to have a strong voice.
Ursula-She is Beauty's friend.
Gretel-She is Ursula's younger friend.
Rita-She is a statue in the Beast's palace. She comes to life to serve him. She is a maid.
Geeta-She is a statue in the Beast's palace. She comes to life to serve him. She is a maid.
Clause- He is a statue in the Beast's palace. He comes to life to cook for him.
Hillary- She lives in the village and is Clause's wife.
Jacob- He is Clause's son. He takes a liking to Keltie Von Rose.
Tilly-She is Clause's daughter. She is very young.
Cara-She is Clause's daughter. She is very young.
Harriet-She is Hillary's friend.
Jenna-She is Harriet's very young daughter.
Teasel-She is a milk maid who becomes one of the Beast's statues.
Hans-He is a tinker who becomes one of the Beast's statues.
Louie-He is "Ze French painter." This character is very comical. He becomes one of the Beast's statues.
Fefe Laroo- Louie's lovely assistant. She sings a few solos. She becomes one of the Beast's statues.
Charlton-He is a statue in the Beast's palace that comes to life to serve him as his butler.
Gardo-He is a statue in the Beast's palace that comes to life to serve him as his gardener.
The Four Ballerinas from Austria-Trina, Lina, Sarina, & Malina. These dancing ballerinas also sing a special song in the show.
