Sol Inspirations Eco Fashion Show
On October 27, local non-profit Sol Inspirations kicks off their membership drive with an exciting three part eco fashion show that unites green styles and talent from competing fashion students, established local fashion designers, and boutiques and vintage stores at Textile Center in Minneapolis.
This year's show will launch the organization's new membership program by featuring looks from local boutiques and vintage stores Corner Store featuring looks from Vintage Motorcycle Jackets, B. Resale, Nancy's Nifty Thrifty, 2nd Debut, and Gumball Collective who offer discounts on clothing and accessories when card-carrying members shop at their stores. Accessories will be provided by Rewind.
The second segment of the show will feature well known Textile Center designers including Kevin Kramp, Nancy MacKenzie, Laurie Jacobi and Chiaki O'Brien.
In an exciting finale, Sol Inspirations will award its second $500 fashion scholarship at the event. Local college students representing the University of Minnesota, St. Catherine University, Minneapolis Community Technical College and St. Thomas University will exhibit their garments on models during the VIP social prior to the show. During the VIP social, guests will talk to each competing student about their garment and then vote for their favorite. The student with the most votes during the evening will take home the scholarship, so the stakes are high!
Ticket prices are $25 for advanced tickets and $30 at the door (Student tickets are $10 for advanced tickets and $15 at the door) or free for anyone with a paid membership. Tickets are available at www.sol-inspirations.org.
All tickets include access to the VIP social, a tour of Textile Center, one vote for the student scholarship, hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Doors open at 4pm for the VIP social and the runway show begins at 5:00pm.
Sol Inspirations' new membership program will allow supporters to become a part of the organization facilitating its vision "To reduce the fashion industry's environmental footprint and end unjust labor practices by normalizing responsible fashion."
Individual memberships offer a membership card giving discount privileges at local stores, special pricing at events and educational courses, the ability to serve on Sol Inspirations' committees and the Board of Directors, while Business members will receive membership privileges, a complimentary copy of Sol Inspirations' yearly look book and various advertising opportunities.
