We live in an extraordinary moment on Earth. As we witness unprecedented destruction of ecological, biological, and social systems, we can feel overwhelmed by anger, fear and despair. How can we remain resilient, creative, and empowered to work together toward a life-sustaining society?
The Work That Reconnects, developed by teacher/activist Joanna Macy and others, draws on deep ecology, systems theory, and engaged Buddhism. In this workshop we will acknowledge our pain for the world, identify sources of hope and resilience, look for a larger perspective on our times, and learn tools to take into our lives. Practices will include guided group meditations, a grief ritual, conversation in pairs, and other participatory exercises. Expect interesting ideas, a safe space for deep feelings, and lots of connection with each other. WHO IS LEADING: Amy Tighe and Anne Goodwin, members of the Boston-area Community of Practice, and experienced leaders of the work.
