or iPhone - but as rapturous to the ears and eyes as a Honey Crisp Apple is to the mouth!A sensation throughout Europe, the theatrical multimedia Lithuanian string ensemble NI&Co - or New Ideas Chamber Orchestra - is including the Cinema Arts Centre in its debut North American tour. But this is not just a concert - it is unique performance art.
Conducted by Gediminas Gelgotas, who also takes part, NI&Co's six award-winning string performers (on violins, cellos and double bass) play from memory, integrating movement, speech and singing into sublime, ethereal and energetic music. The effect is mesmerizing. NI&Co's luxurious style has captivated audiences in Russia, Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, Switzerland, Austria and more.
The concert will include their version of works by such modern composers as the deeply admired Arvo Pärt, Hans Otte, and Michael Hamel. Returning to the classical era, they will perform Gelgotas' stunning two-violin version of J.S. Bach's famed Chaconne. Finally, NI&Co will perform works by conductor Gediminas Gelgotas himself, inspired by nature, time and our evermore expansive understanding of the universe.
