Historian Jacqui deVries will lead a 2-mile tour of womens suffrages sites in downtown Minneapolis. Walk in the footsteps of local activists and reformers of a century ago. You will see glimpses of their world, their challenges, and their values. You will also explore how the suffrage movement fell short in the quest for full inclusivity.
This in-person walking tour is limited to 10 participants plus 2 hosts. Masks are required for everyone except the presenter. We ask participants to maintain 6 feet of distance between households.
About the presenter: Jacqueline R. DeVries is Professor of History at Augsburg University. She is President of the Board of Directors at HHM and co-curated the Votes for Women exhibit. A digital version of this tour, which deVries researched and wrote with her undergraduate students, can be found at http://digitours.augsburg.edu/tours/show/7. Meet the historian behind the tour and get the inside scoop on the suffrage movement in Hennepin County.
