Irish flute and tin whistle players are invited to join us for an afternoon of music with the charming and very accomplished Kevin Crawford. Admission also includes dinner after the workshop!
This workshop, entitled "The Rhythm and Pulse of Irish Music," will center mainly on breath control, phrasing and ornamentation -- how understanding the pulse of the music takes the fear out of where to breathe. We will take a look at flute repertoire, and especially the tunes of County Clare and the West of Ireland. Please bring a recording device. Simple ABC notation will be available too. Please also bring a folding chair and a snack to share at the break.
Kevin visited last spring as part of The Teetotallers (with fiddler Martin Hayes and guitarist John Doyle), and a few years ago with the internationally-acclaimed Irish group LĂșnasa.
