Daniel Pearl was a journalist who was kidnapped and killed in Afghanistan in 2002. He loved music, so to honor his birthday, which falls on October 10, his family has created an initiative to celebrate him and the ideal that music can bring together people from all backgrounds. They ask that musicians just dedicate one show to the idea that music unites people. This initiative has gone on for several years, and musicians from all genres and walk of life have participated (from R.E.M. to classical music students). This show celebrates that ideal by bringing together a group of musicians in a very collaborative and spontaneous fashion, with a house band and a rotating set of singers who play a blend of originals and covers.
