An evening with Joe Carducci
Famed rock scribe Joe Carducci visits Portland in support of his new book Enter Naomi; SST And All That." Carducci was the A&R man for the record label SST, which was instrumental in the development of hardcore punk with releases by the Minutemen, Hsker D, the Meat Puppets, Sonic Youth, and Dinosaur Jr. Carducci's book Rock and the Pop Narcotic was a critique of rock as an art form. His newest work is a tribute to Naomi Peterson, SST's house photographer who chose the bohemian lifestyle but died tragically alone in a hotel due to alcohol abuse.
