Pursuit of Truth and Invisible Young
PURSUIT OF TRUTH: ADULT SURVIVORS OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE SEEKING JUSTICE (Valerie Gibson, 59 min.)
The film chronicles the plight of adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse who seek legal redress against their abusers. In their own words, survivors describe their individual journeys to obtain justice and the impediments that obstructed their paths. Their stories shine a much-needed light on the shameful secret that despite the child sex abuse epidemic in this country, our legal system too often retraumatizes survivors, curtails their legal rights, and allows their abusers to walk free. The film also features interviews with experts in the field who collectively weigh in on the fundamental flaws in the system and recommend needed reforms. The film breaks new ground by raising serious questions about the legal process's response to survivors' cases and addressing necessary systemic changes.
INVISIBLE YOUNG (Steven Keller, 57 min.)
Invisible Young is an inspiring documentary that tells the life stories of four young adults, all of whom were homeless as teenagers in Seattle Washington. It takes a revealing look at their families, their day to-day lives, their possible fates, and follows them as they strive for a hopeful, prosperous future. Invisible Young is not just a film about about family dysfunction and homelessness, it is about perseverance and the resilience of the human spirit.
