Cool Yule
Cool Yule - A Big Band Theory Friday - Dec. 6 - 8 PM Saturday - Dec. 7 - 8 PM Sunday - Dec. 8 - 4 PM Tuesday - Dec. 10 - 8 PM
The finely tuned voices of the Sacramento Gay Men's Chorus in harmony with the Big Band sound of Sacramento's acclaimed Harley White Jr. Orchestra all add up to a "Cool Yule" holiday concert, Dec. 6 through 10, at First United Methodist Church, 2100 J Street, in Midtown Sacramento. In addition to traditional holiday tunes arranged to a Big Band beat, the two-hour show will include traditional seasonal carols and hymns, as well as spotlight innovative staging, choralography, and humorous vignettes with which SGMC have raised the bar with every new performance. Vocal ensemble Boy Howdy will chime in with "Christmas in the Cloister," depicting a group of monks who air their frustrations with the holiday season, and "Black Christmas," which bemoans the predominance of "White Christmas", noting that even Charlie Brown's African-American friend didn't make the cut for the Peanuts Christmas Specials.
Tickets in the Reserved Section at the front of center orchestra include a pre-concert dessert reception one block away at the showroom for Lumens Light + Living. The reception starts 45 minutes before concert time.
