Louis-Jean Cormier & Anique Granger

On September 18th, 2012, after more than 15 years playing to enthusiastic audiences as a member of the group Karkwa, Louis-Jean Cormier launched his first solo album, "Le treizième étage". Enthusiastically received by critics and fans, he has created a musical universe in his own image, and in our image as well. Pieced together with the help of friends, fellow musicians and all kinds of artisans, this project is not so much a "solo career" as a more personal adventure along parallel lines in a new direction, with a new voice. Fans will have the chance to hear this new voice for the first time in Vancouver, on Thursday, November 21st at 8 p.m., with Louis-Jean in concert at the Norman Rothstein theatre.
To open Louis-Jean's performance, Le Centre is pleased to welcome Anique Granger. She hails from the francophone community in Saskatchewan but she has called Quebec home between her tours in Canada and Europe. She first made her mark as the co-instigator of the Polly-Esther duo, jointly signing three albums, including "Les cent pas", which was hailed as best francophone album at the Western Canadian Music Awards in 2003. Since 2005, she has pursued a solo career, starting with her first solo album, "Pépins". Anique is coming to Vancouver to present her second album, "Les outils qu'on a", newly launched in 2013. With her penetrating gaze and charming shyness, Anique has emerged on the Franco-Canadian music scene as a sweet revelation. Her lyrics are peppered with a disarming and surprising sense of humour, and her toe-tapping music is enlivened with a contagious "joie de vivre".
