Breaking Boundaries Band is a community project that started about five years ago in Vancouver, BC. Time moves and new ideas came, Breaking Boundaries Band focused their energy on Native Colombian Cumbia, Vallenato and New Music. Strong improvisation over the essence of Cumbia and Afro Colombian drumming are the essence of this musical project.
Since the beginning this community project has had the opportunity of sharing their sound in different context as a big band and as a small piece band in private parties all around Vancouver and the islands, festival all around Vancouver, Whistler, Victoria, Squamish and Tofino (Carnaval Del Sol, Vancouver World Music Festival, Surrey Latin Festival, among others) and big venues (, The Orpheum, Science World, Museum of Anthropology, Chan Center, Red Room, Fox Cabaret, The Wise Hall, Hungarian Hall, among others.
