The More Beautiful World our Hearts Know is Possible The Vision and Practice of Inter- being - deepening the experience with CHARLES EISENSTEIN
We live at a special historical moment, to use Joanna Macy's words, a Great Turning. But exactly what is this turning of the age whose imminence we feel? How does it practically translate into political, technological, and social change? How can we participate in it considering the grave situation our planet faces? Join Charles Eisenstein, author of Sacred Economics: Money, Gift, and Community in an Age of Transition, for a challenging and inspiring exploration of the dynamics of the present transition.
Our planet, our bodies, our very lives have come to us as a gift. Having "earned" none of these things, our natural tendency is toward gratitude and the desire to give in turn, to serve something greater than ourselves. But we all have habits and beliefs that interfere with fully living in the gift. In this gathering, we will clear those blockages so that we can be more effective as change agents. Through dialog and experiential processes, we will discover keys to living in a state of flow, to giving and receiving more fully, and creating things beyond our understanding of cause and effect.
CHARLES EISENSTEIN is a speaker and writer focusing on themes of civilization, consciousness, money, and human cultural evolution. His viral short films and essays online have established him as a genre-defying social philosopher and countercultural intellectual. Eisenstein graduated from Yale University in 1989 with a degree in Mathematics and Philosophy and spent the next ten years as a Chinese-English translator. The author of Sacred Economics and Ascent of Humanity, he currently lives in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.
PLEASE NOTE: This workshop will have extremely limited seating and is open to change agents, permaculture practitioners, earth activists, transition workers, community workers and folks engaged in work designed to enrich not just their lives, but the wider Earth community.
As part of moving toward a "Gift" economy, Charles has requested that his fees for the workshop come from the hearts of the participants of the event. The question will be, "What do you feel this event is worth to you?"
