ABOUT SEATTLE ARAB FILM FESTIVAL:
Featuring the work of visionary emerging and established Arab filmmakers, this years iteration of the Seattle Arab Film Festival includes a wide variety of remarkable short and feature films. Films are grouped into four themes: In the Diaspora, Youth in Focus, Family and Culture, and Strong Female Lead. Each theme includes films that are at once startling and generous, passionate and empathetic, electrifying and familiar. Through the eyes of masterful filmmakers, audiences will encounter a diversity of Arab stories, circumstances, histories, visions, and voices.
ABOUT THIS FILM PROGRAM:
Color, intensity, and humor characterize this youth-focused series. With curiosity and excitement, the children in these films scheme, dream, and chase, resulting in adventures, mishaps, and the formation of life-changing friendships.
In This Program: UNFORGETTABLE MEMORY OF A FRIEND (Wissam Charaf, Lebanon, 25 min)
A precocious teenager learns he can make a profit from his talents, all while attracting the interest of Raya, a bold classmate.
MARADONA'S LEGS (Firas Khoury, Germany & Palestine, 20 min)
During the 1990 World Cup, two young Palestinian boys are looking for Maradonas legs; the last missing sticker that they need in order to complete their world cup album and win a free Atari.
GHALIA (Ayman Sakr, Egypt, 18 min)
When a young girl asks her mother a question about womens value in society, her mother begins to reexamine her life and place in the world.
NEFTA FOOTBALL CLUB (Yves Piat, Morocco & France, 17 min)
Abdallah and Mohammad encounter a donkey wearing headphones and bags full of white powder in the desert. They bring the powder home, changing their community in the process.
