Gifts of the Season: Spirit, Peace and Joy
Your holidays will be enriched with "Gifts of the Season: Spirit, Peace, Joy!" a concert by the Young Women's Chorus of San Francisco, Susan McMane, conductor. The program features the magnificent Benjamin Britten Missa Brevis in D with organist Jonathan Dimmock. The concert includes spiritual, peaceful and joyful music by Hiidegard von Bingen, Francesco Guerrero, Frank La Rocca, and Abbie Betinis, as well as familiar carols of the season with some audience sing-along.
The mission of the YWC is to transform the lives of young women through exceptional artistry in choral performance and bring the expressive power of their music to the community, the nation, and the world. Under the artistic leadership of Dr. Susan McMane, the YWC provides talented young women ages 11-18 from across the San Francisco Bay Area with exceptional musical and interpersonal experiences.
Dr. Susan McMane, Artistic Director and Conductor, is a world-renowned choral conductor specializing in treble choral music. Before taking the helm of YWCP in 2012, Dr. McMane served as Artistic Director of the San Francisco Girls Chorus for 11 years, where she oversaw the music education of 400 girls age 5 through 18 and achieved national and international acclaim for its touring chorus. Among many honors, she has won three GRAMMY awards with the SF Symphony, including "Best Classical Recording" and "Best Choral Performance" as well as two Adventurous Programming Awards by ASCAP and Chorus America.
