Fascinating works of the modern era outline a celestial theme in the Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra's Season Finale performance. SMCO embraces its Northwest connection to Alan Hovhaness, and concertmaster Rose McIntosh performs Gabriel Prokofiev's Spheres for solo violin and orchestra, a work by the groundbreaking composer who is also the British-born grandson of Sergei Prokofiev. The orchestra also presents two world premieres as part of its continuing initiative to premiere music of talented young composers, including a performance of the winning work of SMCO's first worldwide Composition Competition.
