3rd Annual Not Forgotten Play Festival
For the 2020 iteration of the Not Forgotten Play Festival, the Womens Playwright Collective had decided to explore the theme of weathering storms whether against uncontrollable, overwhelming outside forces or whether the storm only crashes and breaks against the shores of your own inner world. The seven pieces presented by collective members new and returning strive to understand the unpredictable, as well as the inevitable. Due to necessary precautions, this years works range in medium from to dramatic readings, live-performance broadcast, and video work. We hope audience members, wherever they may be, enjoy experiencing the passionate womens voices and stories exhibited herein, and feel as connected to the group and our community as ever. While this will be an event free to the public, and any good-will contributions received will be split amongst the following charities: Girls Write Now and The Okra Project.
The mission of the Womens Playwright Collective, founded in Staten Island in 2018, is to play one small part in the steady amplification of womens voices. We believe that showcasing original, contemporary work is an essential component of any healthy and vibrant local arts community, and are emboldened and passionate about bringing this energy and momentum to the Staten Island arts scene. The WPC wishes to collaborate and grow as a sisterhood of artists, and hopes to be able to sustain our annual showcase, the Not Forgotten Play Festival, as a unique and inspirational mainstay of the Staten Island creative community.
