Our new "Family Affairs" series explores researching and writing about Jewish experience from a distinctively personal perspective in discussions with leading scholars of modern Jewish history and the Holocaust.
Meri-Jane Rochelson (Florida International University) and Devin E. Naar (University of Washington) will discuss their projects and personal histories in Ashkenazi and Sephardi contexts. Her Elis Story: A Twentieth-Century Jewish Life and his Jewish Salonica: Between the Ottoman Empire and Modern Greece will serve as a starting point for a broader conversation, moderated by Natalia Aleksiun.
