The Writers' Room of Boston presents GISH JEN
Special 25th Anniversary Fundraising Event!
The Writers' Room of Boston is honored to host an evening with GISH JEN in celebration of our 25th birthday. Gish Jen's recent memoir, Tiger Writing, has been called "a magnificent feat of integration" (Maxine Hong Kingston) and "a profound meditation on the divergent roles that storytelling, artmaking, and selfhood take on across the East-West divide" (Junot Diaz). A long-time member of the Writers' Room Advisory Board, she understands how essential undisturbed time and space are for a working writer. Now, she's kindly giving her own time to talk about Tiger Writing and the writing life at this fundraising anniversary event.
Founded in 1988, The Writers' Room of Boston is committed to supporting the creation of new literature by providing a secure, affordable workspace and an engaged community to emerging and established writers who have no other place to write. For twenty-five years, The Room has been available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and currently subsidizes writing space and resources for about 50 writers, as well as providing four fellowships per year. Your $10 admission supports the Room in its mission to meet an enduring and timeless need: safe, quiet workspace to produce a new literary work.
