Spring Quarter: Writing with Voice Online
Tuesday April 12th
4-5:50 pm, CMU 126

Stand out from the noise with Seattle Times & Seattle Globalist columnist Sarah Stuteville.

Whether you're a content strategist, journalist or product manager, writing for the web is increasingly vital. A unique voice will help your press releases, emails  even your Facebook posts  stand out from the crowd.

This workshop will focus on transparent, personal and accessible writing that can be applied to your professional goals.

Seattle Times columnist and Seattle Globalist creative director Sarah Stuteville will offer exercises and tips for bringing out your voice, with a focus on point-of-view writing that challenges assumptions of the omniscient voice and pushes the boundaries of what non-fiction writing can be.

PAST WORKSHOPS:

Fall Quarter: Photo Essentials
Tuesday Oct. 20th
4-5:50 pm, COM Building

Great visuals are essential to draw viewers in and tell a story in the digital sphere. But even with quality cameras built right into our phones and tablets, grainy, poorly composed photographs still litter the Internet.

Whether you shoot with your smartphone, tablet, or something fancier, this workshop will teach you vital techniques for making your photography stand out from the crowd.

You'll learn everything from composition, to getting comfortable photographing people, to finding rights-free images online.

Learn from award-winning photojournalist and filmmaker Alex Stonehill, who has reported from more than a dozen countries, directed a feature-length documentary, and is Editor-in-Chief of The Seattle Globalist.

Please bring a digital camera or smartphone to the workshop.

This hands-on workshop is perfect for people who have done some work in WordPress but want to expand their understanding of how it works and how to maximize its many great features.
