SABRINA
(1954) dir Billy Wilder w/Bogart, Audrey Hepburn, William Holden [113 min; DCP] A most romantic love triangle plays out in Billy Wilder's wonderfully lighthearted comedy as Audrey Hepburn charms both William Holden's frivolous playboy and Bogie's serious workaholic. Holden and Bogart play brothers, two opposites in an extremely wealthy family, and Hepburn is their chauffeur's shy daughter who goes away to Paris for two years and returns as a charming and sophisticated lady and a vitally needed dose of vibrancy for both brothers. A sumptuous, black-and-white counterpoint to THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA which was released in the same year.
