CABARET, COMEDY, AND COFFEE TALK with RYAN G. HINDS LIVE AT THE FLYING BEAVER PUBARET!
CABARET, COMEDY, AND COFFEE TALK with RYAN G. HINDS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20th - 9pm featuring ORI DAGAN, NICOLE BOND and CATHERINE HERNANDEZ
Fresh off of two sold-out appearances at Montreal's Just For Laughs Festival, award-winning performance artist Ryan G. Hinds returns with his monthly cabaret/chat show for September.
The sassy blend of music, laughs, and chatter has earned raves from The Grid ("Hinds is hilarious; makes a great case for the lost art of cabaret in Toronto. His show made me giddy!" - Paul Aguirre-Livingston) and Indecent Xposure ("a one-of-a-kind side-splitting spectacle. Hinds is clever, comical and musically well-endowed and the coffee talk element of his show brings a unique sense of intimacy" - Chantal Da Silva). This month, Hinds welcomes:
Ori Dagan, jazz vocalist and musical adventurer. His critically acclaimed debut, "S'Cat Got My Tongue" (2009) established him within on Toronto's jazz landscape. He has since also been a featured performer at the Canadian Public Relations Society Gala, the All Canadian Jazz Festival (Port Hope), Brampton Global Jazz and Blues Festival, Markham Jazz Festival, Bancroft & Maynooth Blues & Jazz Festival and hosted the Hamilton Music & Film Festival. In 2013 Ori preformed as part of the Winter Jazz Series at Canadian Music Week. On his new release "Less Than Three" (April 28, 2012) the vocalist explores new territory, re-imagining material by Elton John, Madonna, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Lady Gaga, along with originals, standards, and selections in his native tongue of Hebrew stirred into the mix. The recording earned him a nomination in the "Best Jazz" category at the 2012 Toronto Independent Music Awards.
Nicole Rose Bond has danced with Toronto Dance Theatre, Niagara Dance Company, and Danny Grossman. She began her formal dance training at York University graduating cum laude with a BFAH in Dance in 2005 under the artistic guidance of Penelope Reed Doob, Susan Cash, Donna Krasnow, Holly Small and Claire Wooten, and was one of ten dancers featured in a Toronto Star article entitled: "Performers to Watch" by Susan Walker. Upon graduating, Nicole has felt privileged to perform with Coleman Lemieux et Compagnie, Yvonne Ng, Patricia Beatty, Dance Theatre David Earle and Mary Jo Mullins. She has danced locally and on tour with Ryan G. Hinds.
Catherine Hernandez is the Artistic Director of Sulong Theatre. Her play "Eating with Lola", a one-woman puppet show, has toured internationally in the US and Colombia, and recently enjoyed a remount at Torontoʼs Glad Day Bookshop. In 2007, her first play, Singkil, was directed by Nina Lee Aquino, produced by fu-GEN Asian Canadian Theatre Company in association with Factory Theatre and garnered seven Dora Mavor Moore nominations. She followed that with a playwright residency at Theatre Passe Murailleʼs 08/09, after which she was named the theatreʼs Associate Producer in 2009/2010.
