"The True Cost of Oil" (2008 Anti-Corporate Film Festival)
A program of short documentary films that coincides with two pending trials in San Francisco against Richmond, CA-based Chevron. The program includes previews of two works-in-progress "The Naked Option" and "Sweet Crude" and one short film, "Justicia Now!", all three of which document Chevrons exploitation of people and the environment in Nigeria and Ecuador.
The films will be followed by an extended panel discussion including Cindy Cohn, an attorney working on one of the Chevron lawsuits; Antonia Juhasz, an expert on the oil industry and author of "The Tyranny of Oil"; Nigerian activist Ayo Ajisebutu, and Mitch Anderson, Corporate Accountability Campaigner at the SF-based non-profit organization Amazon Watch.
