The purpose of this course is to provide knowledge of current Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) state-of-the-art services in theory and practice; to encourage proficiency among the attendees in the VDC process, and to inspire the high standards of performance in the delivery of VDC professional services.
Attendees will learn the basic Project Delivery Strategies challenging existing and historic paradigms with the application of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) technology, methods, and processes. The attendees will engage in an exploration of present and future tools being developed for virtual detection, simulation, emulation, fabrication, assembly, and erection for use in the delivery of complex building projects. The program will focus on the expectations of future VDC software tools for enhanced economy, efficiency, experimentation, and environmental influences that are becoming available through the current development and application of strategic VDC methodology.
Learning Objectives:
-Attendees will gain an understanding of the spectrum of virtual technological tools becoming available for the application of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) for Project Delivery of complex building developments.
-Attendees will learn how the process of VDC builds value supporting economy, efficiency, enlightenment, experimentation, and the environment
-Attendees will gain knowledge of the steps associated with and integral to the development of VDC Project Delivery methods.
-Attendees will learn how the application of VDC technology and operations influences the integration of AEC professional performance; transforming professional practice.
-Attendees will gain knowledge from interviews with industry professionals of the influences of VDC on project performance from the contractors perspective; on cost of service from the architects perspective; on contractual issues from the attorneys perspective; on MEP & Structural systems from the Engineers perspectives; on education from the college and university perspectives; on liability from the insurance perspective; and on economic efficiency from the Clients perspective.
