Bellingham City Club Program September 25th
In the next few years decisions our Port Commissioners make will have an enormous impact on the clean-up and redevelopment of the Georgia Pacific site adjacent to downtown Bellingham. As a prime force for economic development throughout Whatcom County, the Port is also responsible for the Bellingham International Airport, two major marinas, the Cruise terminal, the Shipping Terminal and the Sumas International Cargo Terminal, as well as numerous land holdings throughout the county. The upcoming elections may well change how the Port operates in the future.
On September 25th we are pleased to welcome the four candidates campaigning for two Port of Bellingham Commissioner positions. Our forum will provide an opportunity for all of us to learn about the candidates and assess their views on the Georgia Pacific site and other issues vital to our county's future. Joining us for the District 1 position are Dan Robbins and Renata Kowalczyk. The District 2 candidates are incumbent Mike McAuley and challenger Ken Bell.
