L.A. Fashion Week : Love Sessions hosted by ?uestLove & Travis McCoy
On Friday, October 17th, DJ ?uestlove and Travis McCoy will headline an L.A. Fashion Week / Voter Registration event designed to ramp up voter registration among young Americans through entertainment inside the newly renovated Versus Nightclub. Miami's own DJ Irie (Jamie Foxx's DJ, Pepsi, Miami Heat DJ) will join the stellar cast, on the decks.
The event is the last stop for this year's L.A. Fashion Week, featuring runway shows by LRG Clothing, JUZD Bamboo, Factory Girl Clothing, Grefphenreed, and others. Plus a live set by DJ Irie. DJ Irie has been the official DJ of 2006 NBA Champions Miami Heat and the official DJ for Jamie Foxx. DJ ?uestlove is a famed, top tier producer who has worked with superstars such as Jay Z, D'Angelo and Al Green to name a few. He is also the drummer for Philadelphia based hip hop super group The Roots, one of the most critically acclaimed hip hop acts in the genre's history. Travis McCoy is the lead vocalist of the acclaimed band Gym Class Heroes (2007 MTV Best New Artist) who just released their 4th studio LP. The two headliners are known for breaking the mold in hip hop and rock through live instrumentation and a pioneering reputation in mainstream music. This event will also serve as the official 5 year anniversary party for Fusicology, a multifaceted website and media entity promoting progressive music and culture through event listings and relevant content.
"We knew that the best way to speak to young people was through their creative lenses, which is why we thought it was important to create this synergy between art and a political voice," said Nico Bacigalupo, Versus Nightclub Director of Marketing and Events.
This pioneering concept combining high end fashion and top tier DJs with social consciousness in the run-up to the November election - is being regarded as a major conduit for Election Day turnout among young Californian voters. October 17th marks the last weekend the citizens can register to vote, making this Love Session relevant to the democratic process, while simultaneously providing enthusiasts with world famous musicians and one of the most unique and highly anticipated fashion shows at this year's Fashion Week celebration.
This event also serves as the soft launch event for Versus Nightlife (www.versusla.com), the newly renovated super club in the heart of L.A.'s Fashion District. The venue boasts 35, 000 square feet on three different levels and has recently seen renovations that take the architecture back to its original foundation. Versus was chosen due to its fashion district location and its ability to accommodate the versatile format created by Step Up Productions and Booky Entertainment.
