Virtual Museum in Mind
The Whatcom Museum invites people with early-stage memory loss or dementia and their care partners for a two-part virtual program via Zoom designed to engage participants with an art-filled experience. This one-hour-long program consists of a conversation-based virtual gallery tour of a current exhibition followed by an art-making activity that can be done at home with step-by-step guidance from our museum educator. Participants can either choose to use materials commonly found at home for this art activity or purchase a pre-assembled kit with supplies included for pick-up at the Lightcatcher building prior to the program.
Cost for participation:
$10 minimum fee to participate in this virtual program. Fee includes participant and their caregiver. Participants are responsible for their own art materials.
$25 includes participation in the virtual program and an activity kit with enough materials for two people. Activity kits will be available for pick-up at the Museum.
$25 variable fee includes participation in the virtual program, an activity kit with materials for two people (available for pick-up), and whatever amount you'd like to give to support our access programs.
An educator will email with login information for the Zoom presentation and with instructions for picking up your activity kit if purchased within a few days of your registration. For questions or if you don't receive email instructions within a week, contact Museum educator Chelsea Macias at camacias@cob.org or 360.778.8935.
This program is supported, in part, by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as the Fund Three Pines Foundation and KBF Canada.
