National Gleaning Day at Star Route Farms

September is Hunger Awareness Month. Hunger in America exists for over 50 million people. That is 1 in 6 of the U.S. population including more than 1 in 5 children. In Marin County, 30% of children are food insecure. With great excitement Marin Organic is pleased to announce the 4th Annual National Gleaning Day on Saturday, September 21, and throughout the following week. Join us in uniting local communities, farms, food banks, and school lunch programs across the nation to harvest local, healthy food and ensure it gets to those who can benefit most from it. Help us build a movement by inviting your local community and local farms to sponsor a gleaning on Saturday, September 21 and/or throughout the following week. Also, please spread the word to other like-minded organizations who can expand our collective impact. Let's help more people connect the dots between their community, institutions, and farms to create local food systems where everyone and everything thrives! For National Gleaning Day, Marin Organic will be gleaning at Star Route Farms in Bolinas on Saturday, September 21 from 11-1 with a community potluck to follow, bring a dish to share!
