The Edge of Tranquility
Thisis the story of George, who fled Nazi Germany as a child and eventually came to England. He was born in Halle, the same town as George Frideric Handel, who is his great musical love. In old age George is suffering from a brain tumour. Painful memories of his early life come flooding back, and in order to avoid them he immerses himselfincreasingly in the life and music of Handel. George's and Handel's lives are explored in an original, imaginative and sometimes humorous form, plumbing the depths of emotion and memory, and including some of Handel's most beautiful music.
