There may not be a typical fireworks display on Orcas Island this year but get ready for a Fourth of July Laser Light Drive-In Show to take place at Mt. Baker Farm on Saturday, July 4. Seattles Industry leader Slick Lasers will light up the night sky for a spectacular laser light show with the glorious colors and music designed specifically for an Independence Day celebration. The show will also feature the music of local artists, including Ken Speck and Orcatrazz swing, Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival and the Orcas Island Jazz Festival. The event is co-sponsored by the Orcas Island Film Festival and the Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce.
Think epic, high-energy and amazing. Im excited to see how the community responds, said OIFF Co-director Donna Laslo.
The gates will open at 7 p.m. for attendees to claim their spot and enjoy great food and treats by local eateries and LIVE music starting at 8 p.m. You might want to try playing disc golf at Mt. Baker Farm with a course that features nine Innova professional baskets. Each tee-off has a log as a threshold and youll find natural obstacles like trees, stumps, ferns and switchbacks. Call 360-376-2425 for golf reservations.
The main show will begin at dusk and the Laser Light Show will follow at 10 p.m. Reservations are required to reserve your spot and organizers hope that people will support the event through our PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN pricing when making their reservation.
Coronavirus Protocols will be in effect; physical distancing and masks are required when outside your car. This will be strictly enforced. Cars are spaced 10 feet apart and the sound will be transmitted over your FM radio. Oversized vehicles will be placed at the back. Bring a battery-operated FM radio if your car battery is weak. Space is limited, reserve early at http://www.orcasfilmfest.com/ or https://bpt.me/4630696.
"The Orcas Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to be partnering with Donna and the film festival to offer a safe, entertaining alternative to the fireworks show, which we had to cancel this year," said Chamber Board President Colleen Smith. "Although our communities are slowing opening back up, public safety is still a major concern. After the success of the recent drive-in theatre offerings, it's clear that we can still gather together while adhering to county guidelines, and Mt. Baker Farm is the perfect spot to do that."
