Choral Masterworks
The Rochester Oratorio Society and the Houghton College Choir join forces in a program of masterworks by Mozart and Beethoven on Sunday,October 6,at 7:00P.M.,at the Hochstein Performance Hall, 50 N. Plymouth Avenue, Rochester, New York. Mozart's great Requiem Mass in D Minor,one of the best known choral masterworks,is the main work of the program.
Joining the ROS for the peformance will be the Houghton College Choir, a 100 voice ensemble led by Dr. Brandon Johnson,director of choral activities and Associate Professor of Choral Conducting and Voice at Houghton's Greatbatch School of Music. The Choir is preparing for its Carnegie Hall debut in March 2014, in this same repertoire.
The concert marks the local premiere performance of "Cantate Domino" by David Horace Davies, Assistant Professor of Composition Studies at Houghton, which was commissioned for the occasion.
