Keeping Score, An Original Musical Drama by Jim Lee
From the author/composer of Letters from Laura, Keeping Score is a musical drama that tells the story of four generations of small-town North Carolina women from the perspective of three Thanksgiving mornings in 1957, 1977, and 1997. As the play opens, Brenda has come home from a whirlwind Hollywood romance that has left her living with her mother, Gladys, and her infant daughter, Lucy. As the next forty years unfolds, Brenda comes to grips with the betrayal that caused her stuntman husband to bolt back to California leaving her to raise first her bitter daughter and then her defiant granddaughter, Carole, while she must forgo her dreams of love and stardom. By turns comic and tragic, Keeping Score contains 14 original songs and a strong cast of four young women who explore the changing loyalties of this Southern family. You will recognize someone you know!
